So my beautiful nephew, Charlie, who is just edible, turned one this month and being my nephew he has to own a pog. To be truthful this is his second pog, but his first Splog Pog!! I spent some time with him this last week and whilst tiding the house and cleaning out daddy’s old toy chest my husband and I decided to bring out the new pog and as you can see the response was a happy one. This organic pog range seems to be a BIG hit with the young children as they are so bright and cheerful. The beauty of organic dying is the random patterns that can occur, so all the fabric is always slightly different, due to the techniques used. The colours in the collection vary greatly and as tie dying is coming back with avengence your baby can be as stylish and “with it” as you!!!

Mainly I wanted to comment on how cute it was to see my nephew’s look on his face as he grabbed his Splog pog. A picture says a thousand words. So on that note I will sign off.

Please send me pictures of your pogs it makes me smile.

circle of life Although my “circle of life” piece has been around from the early stages of VeronicaPowellDesigns. It has taken on many different forms and sizes. I am making a circle collection that will house all the different types of circles that I make and of course they are always unique as everything is free hand. But they are always made with love and inspiration! At the moment this piece is on sale – it is normally $90 and right now I am dropping the price to $60 for the month of November. If you are interested in this necklace please let me know. DSC_0200

I have discovered that when you start a new website you really open up to the world of communication across the globe! My creative friends have posted pieces about my site and the pieces they own and I in turn am happy to promote their wonderful talents. For someone who moves around alot and lives in two countries having the website as an outlet for ideas is such a great thing. I am able to reach people everywhere and people are able to find me and chat and share ideas. I love to hear feedback and see what people like. I do all my creations because I love doing it, I love to discover new mediums of art and to play with different materials and see what happens. It satisfies the inner child in me! Lately, I have been making more pogs and developing some relatives of the pogs, yet to be launched.

Loop Of Life Pendant

"Loop Of Life" Pendant

I have been experimenting with the pmc and making some new pieces like the “loop of life” which seems to be popular I think it is because of its versatility. I like loopy things, pieces that move and change as you are wearing it, it is also the smoothness I love. I have always played with whatever jewellery I wear, so I am often guided by the way the pieces feel. We shall see what comes out of this week’s adventures.

Pogs

"Pogs"

I wanted to write this section as a way of telling everyone about my inspirations for all my different designs. My latest additions are my “pogs”, which is a word I use to describe random things that I couldn’t find a name for and for some reason when I made the first “pog” it seemed a perfect match. I designed and made the first one with my niece Chloe during the Summer holidays in Melbourne, Australia. We found one of my old dresses, got some paper and whipped out the sewing machine. The first “pog” was born… We named her Rosie, due to her material. Having shown my friends (who I try everything out on) loved her and so I decided to make more. I found bamboo filler and recycled bottle felt and was very happy that I could make a “green” friendly soft creature. It is nice to mix up which designs I work on and I really do go through different stages, one week I find pendant design inspirations and then the next I will be playing with fabric. I like to keep it interesting…
